The sound of the cables and ease (or difficulty) of returns cannot be painted with a broad brush.
There are differences in the Odin Gold IC (RCA for me) from different vendors.
The first set I bought sounded good to me and I was pleasantly surprised.
The 2nd set from another vendor was not as well constructed, far too tight on the RCA jacks, and not worth listening to (in both directions - actually they sounded better to me in the direction opposite of those on the wood blocks - though still not worth listening to).
Regarding the purchase of a set of Odin 2 XLRs, one of the locking balls on a connector was missing. They also were not worth listening to.
As far as returns, I read about some not so stellar communications and difficulty of returns. I have also read about the differences in sound/quality from different vendors.
For those that have had success in sound and returns, more power to you.
My experience and readings cause me to conclude that these purchases are a crap shoot.
Follow Ups:
Those are good points and perhaps why I too have noticed a variation. Without studying the various vendors, I seem to think the best rule of thumb is NOT to buy the cheapest offering of any particular cable. At least get to the middle price point which may indeed start to connect one with the better vendors. With this all said, who knows, it still may indeed be a crap shoot as you say.
A safe place to buy is the AudioConnector store.
Thank you sir. That cuts right to the chase ;)

I just ordered a pair of Ethernet cables from the AudioConnector Store which should arrive in a few weeks. They will be used to connect my router/modem to a PS Audio DirectStream DAC and an Oppo 105D. Previously I've dealt with the HIFI-DIY Store.
