Cable Asylum

So, I've recently purchased a brand new power cable for my Audiolab 6000CDT cd transport.
I'm a full believer in the effects of cables, and power cables, but it is the first time I'm using a modern transport with IEC connector, allowing me to upgrade the power cord.
I must say I didn't know what to expect, a CD transport outputting only an SPDIf signal.

Well, I'm baffled. Yes, the effect of the cord is audible, right from the first seconds. How can a power cord be so effective on a DIGITAL ONLY device, okay, I accept it but I'm trying to understand in my head what in the POWER CORD can impact the DIGITAL OUTPUT so much.

But THERE IS MORE. It seems the power cord, which has been inserted in the system a couple of days ago, is going through the usual burn-in process: first it was "okay-ish", then there was a slightly dull phase and now it's quite bright and a bit "in your face". Nothing I haven't experienced before with brand new cables, especially those with a complex built (8 solid core copper conductors, silver plated, individually "screened", Teflon insulated, and arranged in a tight "spiral") but HOW IN HELL CAN THE EFFECTS OF BURN-IN and the CHARACTERISTICS OF A BRAND NEW CABLE be heard ON A DIGITAL DEVICE?
And why do I recognize those effects like I do when they happen on an analogue device like a preamplifier???

Sometimes I think it's all in my head.

I just hope in a couple weeks the cable will have mellowed down, if it's NOT in my head! ^^
