I use key FOBS and small motors to turn the volume pot. You can find it all on ebay, probably amazon too. This way you use the existing pot. All Electronics used to sell a motorized pot for a few dollars but they are out of business. Key FOB, motor, gear and bracket will cost you about $35.
GW370 is the motor type I use. I added link to a fob on ebay, you only need 2 channels, this was easy for me to find because I just used it to automate some windows. The ribbed belts and pulleys work better than smooth.

Thanks for replying. I thought of that but it would need a couple of foot pounds of torque. Music Hall amps were different, you have to turn the knob about 4 turns from off to there go the tweeters....It's not a pot, it uses an inductor that slides ( think a gate valve for you plumbers ) to control a voltage controlled amplifier circuit. So no scratchy pot and perfect channel tracking. It really takes quite a bit of effort to turn it. I guess I'll have to pick an inch pounds torque wrench.
She can't tell the difference between the loo and an airlock. We had to back and get her. Twice
The lower RPM motors should do it, I open, close and latch a window with them. The low RPM ones have a lot of torque.
Thank you so much!
