1st gen Purify amp are stunningly close to perfection in terms of distortion. How perfect does perfect have to be? Anyway, I'm sure imperceptible improvements are possible, not to mention superior implementations hopefully at lower cost of manufacture.
VTV Amplifiers, (e.g.), is now selling only implementations of the 1ET6522SA, no more 1ET400A. But I'm very satisfied with their 1ET-400A I bought several years ago and have no plans to "upgrade".

What really gets me is the efficiency.

Distortion values and efficiency values are quite the combo.
