Doing a preamp project. What is your favorite 6J5? Thanks
Edits: 11/11/24 11/11/24Follow Ups:
I have 3 metal can 6J5 tubes that I don't need that tested:
Ken-Rad - 90
Packard - 94
Ken-Rad - 85
on a calibrated B&K 606 Dyna Jet tube tester, 65 - 120 is good.

I never noticed this before. I guess this forum is about SS amps and preamps.

If you look at the sub heading of the amp/preamp Asylum, it says in part, "If you're after tubes, post over here." with the 'over here' being a link to the Tubes Asylum.
And the sub heading to the Tubes Asylum says, "Questions about tubes and gear that glows.", although a lot of people still post about tube preamps and amps in the amp/preamp Asylum anyway.

But since your question was about a tube itself, specifically a 6J5, rather than a piece of gear, I'd say that your post, and Abe's 12AU7 post possibly would have gotten more traffic in the Tubes Asylum.
Distortion is only 0.09% at 10V. Nice.

I prefer using the 5 pin tubes where I can - 27, 37, 56, 76. The 27 and 56 use 2.5V filaments, though.
