One of the recommended power supplies is a switcher of pretty good quality. That filter board is optional for those who might want the added filtering.
Follow Ups:
...but Nelson Pass did say in his original B1 article, "A regulated supply is better, but the circuit is pretty good at ignoring noise on the supply and minor fluctuations."
I only mention that because Greenberg's nod (pasted below) to John Curl's suggestion to use regulated dual mono power supplies has always had me curious about them in my BUF03 based Truth. But that would require a much larger chassis, as well as a fair amount of work, and I've got too many projects as it is.
"John Curl, thank you; dual regulation transformed my preamp from a very good piece of gear into a serious monkeybone muh-cheen. Yeah, it was a pain in the butt to go back and rebuild the power supply, but the improvements it wrought are on a par with installing dedicated AC lines in my listening room. It's that dramatic, and I'm that ecstatic!"
The switcher that I have for the B1 is regulated. The highly regarded "Mean Well" brand is rated at 24VDC 5.0A which from a power perspective is overkill for a preamp. It's about the size of a brick you might find for a laptop PC. The filter board in the B1 chassis is not a requirement but the builder chose to include this option.
In any case the B1 is pretty impressive. It sounds fantastic but I can't live with the fact that it has no remote control. Perhaps someday I'll try to swap in a motorized Volume pot but it seems a hassle since I have another preamp.

...based largely on my old school stubbornness. But that said, I have a switching supply on my Geshelli J2 DAC, and I'm in no hurry to change it.
I think it's easier to design a good linear power supply and good proven designs have been around forever. Switchers require a lot more work to get right. And unfortunately most folks equate switchers with cheap wall warts or laptop battery chargers but it doesn't have to be that way.One of THE quietest measuring preamps is the Benchmark LA4/HPA4. These use Benchmark designed switching supplies internally which goes against the idea that all switchers are noisy. A few of the Chord DACs come with switchers and Chord says not to expect any gain in performance with a LPS. The RME ADI-2 DAC FS comes with a quality outboard switcher which is much larger than the wall warts supplied by Chord. I didn't hear any improvement running the RME DAC from a linear power supply.
IMHO the safe bet is a linear power supply but that doesn't mean all switchers are noisy.

A properly designed SMPS with PFC can be very good.
And much better than LPS's in terms of size, weight, conversion efficiency, heat.
