Read Jim McShane's tutorial at the link below, paying special attention to his #1 cause of tube problems.
Secondly, have you put a meter to the tube socket (with the tube installed and circuit powered up) to see if some voltage is way off, possibly destroying the new tube? I'd clean and tension the socket first, and if that doesn't work, then start with the voltages.
Good luck.
Follow Ups:
I don't know how or have any means to tension and/or check the voltage of a tube socket. I'll have to take it to someone.
I called Art Audio USA, and Scott there said that any Art Audio equipment made in the US (by K&K), which this is one, have no existing schematics. The guy that designed and made them passed away. I'm hoping it's something simple.
I have the original Vinyl One made in the UK. I am not sure if Kevin ( from K&K ) modded the later version. It's such a simple design I'm sure a good tube tech can figure it out.
It is a shame that current distributor not helping you get it sorted. At least they should point you to a resource for repair. I've been using mine for the longest time and so far no problems. It's a lovely sounding unit so you will not give it up.
