Would one of the Denon cartridges work for me?

208.4.17.83

I've seen a lot of talk about the Denon cartridges on here and was wondering if one of them would be a good match for me. I'm currently using an Ortofon OM40, and was using a Shure V15xMR until I dropped it and snapped off the canteliver.

Ideally, I'd like something sorta in between the two of them, but closer to the Shure. The Shure was nice but sometimes a bit bloated in the bass on some records. The Ortofon is quite nice as long as the record is in great shape, but if the record is less than perfect, it really can emphasize some noise.

I'm using a Parasound ZPhono, which has a high gain setting for an MC, but I heard it uses the same loading; I'm am not sure if that is a problem or not if I use a low output cartridge. I would have thought not, but I've seen quite a bit of talk about cartridge loading on here.

The other issue I am concerned about is that I tend to prefer a heavier sound rather than something bright and I've seen people mention that MCs can tend to be more to the lean side, so if that is that case at all for these carts, I would want to steer clear.

So, any of the Denon's sound like a match for me? I'll probably keep with the Ortofon for a while anyway, but am just thinking ahead. If anyone thinks something else sounds like just the ticket, feel free to make other suggestions as well.

Thanks.
