Totally agree! Don't short change for a junk piece. Personally I would avoid going to flea market. Always buy from a reputable source unless you are a conversant DIY. A bad TT will turn you off vinyl. A good one will get you hooked. There are lots of good used TT for very reasonable money, and they have decent resale value as well when you decide to upgrade later. Get a simple and well-built model in good cosmetic condition is key for a beginner. Cosmetic condition is important for resale value. A simple and good design do not frustrate a beginner.
