I regularly see the better Pioneer/Kenwood/Dual style TT's in decent condition at the local flea markets.I have a Micro Seiki DD-35 about 20 years old and it is a wonderful table to use and listen to. May want to watch for one of those too. Auto lift, dust cover, and works great with the Grado cartridges. Not sure what they go for.
The advice above not to sell your self short is very good advice. If I were you, I'd look at the entry level Pro-jects or Rega at a local dealer. You'll be surprised how good they sound. Plus, if you change your mind, you'll have no trouble reselling. Best of luck to you.
