The former Thorens employee Joel Boutreux used to sell (I don't know if they are available anymore) round discs with a hole in the middle that fits inside the inner platter. It's made from thin MDF and fits snugly (you have to really work at it to get it all the way in).It dampens the inner platter effectively (I have one myself) without adding weight to the bearing or suspension. It's easy to hear the difference and it's a simple solution.
The inner platter is the most important to dampen because that's where most of the vibrations originate (from the bearing and from the motor via the belt). Try contacting Joel if you're interested - it costs next to nothing. His english is a little shaky but legible.
