I have a "rider" on my Homeowners policy not only for my gear but for my vinyl as well. My agent told me that if anything was lost or stolen it would be covered automatically, yes, but at "market value" (and minus the deductible). But how do you place a value on your entire vinyl collection? He told me if I had documented proof (pictures, receipts, etc) of the albums I own things would go alot smoother if I had a loss, and although he didn't specifically recommend it he said I could take-out the rider as a "just in case"....(which also negates the deductible for those items covered!)Costs more, but the piece of mind it brings is worth every penny.
