I just recently got some Beethoven violin sonatas (Kreutzer and No.2 I think)on Decca that have Itsak Pearlman on violin and Vladimir Ashkenazy on piano. Superb recordings and performances. I think the recording is made in the late 1970s and the sound quality is also not too bad. Still, I have heard these played by Maxim Vengerov with more vigor that at least for Kreutzer works quite well.
