Record shopping in LA

While I lived in San Diego we had several good new and used record stores. But it was still fun to drive up to LA with a couple of friends to shop.

We found a few good stores but Amoeba was best, because of size and reasonable prices. I have since moved and have not been to their new location.

I had a friend who grew up in Chicago. He had a favorite uncle who was into jazz that helped him start his LP collection in the late '50s. By the late '90s he had around 5,000 albums, nearly all classic jazz recordings in great condition, including most of the Blue Note catalog. When Langley retired he and his wife decided to return east for health reason. Rather than move such a large collection he sold it. I wanted to pick up a few albums missing from my own (much smaller) collection but he'd made an agreement with a dealer who demanded nothing be removed. I'm quite sure that was the Record Collector. That would explain him being a dick about maybe half-dozen LPs out of 5,000.
