Why you want to reduce the fan speed ?

Hi.

Assuming it is a standalone window unit (since you did not say it clearly), technically you can use an AC capacitor to drop down the fan speed.

The question is: how much speed you want to drop to achieve your goal of doing it. Once you find out the loading current of the fan, calculation to obtain the right capacitance for the voltage dropping cap is easy.

As already said, lowering the fan speed can affect the cooling performance of the compressor, & if the unit is still under manufacturer's warranty, it is the consequence you got to face.

PS: if it is a commercial central system with local fan coil units, don't touch it.
