Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

I just got two lines put in, one 15amp, the other 20amp. I used the great info on this site to give instruction to the electrician and I used audiophile outlets.
I am in the process of wanting to get a higher performance amp/pre and sell my Levinson 383 integrated. My complaint was that it was too laid back and uninvolving, a little muddy. I blamed a little boomy bass on my speakers (Verity Parsifals). I wanted to get tubes in the system for more natural timbres to voices and instruments...etc etc.
I am in shock as to what a difference the new lines have made in my system! I can't begin to describe how much more energetic it has become, and, unless I'm going mad, the bass control is so much tighter - so it wasn't my Parsifals at all!! I don't know if this makes sense, but I'm playing the volume on familiar CDs at much lower levels than I used to for the same sound-level. Everything seems clearer - not muddy like it was. This 383 is a pretty good little integrated! Black, black backgrounds and better imaging for sure. Wow.
Is this nuts? Can the dedicated powerline really do this? (note: previous line was a mish-mash of rooms, and was un-grounded). Am I just hearing things to make me feel better about the holes in my walls the electrician made?
Anyways, thanks all for the info that motivated me to do this. I can't imagine a better upgrade for less than $1k...
