The opposing camp (pretty much where I sit) says that by coupling to the floor you transmit a lot of mainly low frequency information which especially with a suspended floor, produces a lot of muddying of the sound.
Apart from a feedback loop to the other components, the space under the floor resonates and amplifies the bass frequencies and makes the bass slow and stodgey.
I was completely won over when I actually tried it.
