Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

..........try out the following tweak:
Take the plug(s), with nothing attached, and plug it into unused outlet ports in your system.
I usually have all the unused outlet ports on my Platinum Power PP-1 AC line balancer capped with child safety caps and Golden Sound Acoustic discs attached to some of the caps. On a whim, I removed the cap/disc that was in the port below the outlet that supplies power to my subbass system and installed a Marinco plug and damned if it didn't tighten up the bass a bit as well as tighten up the imaging focus!
It even "fleshed out" the lower midrange/upper bass a smidge which, if some of U will recall, I was looking for in a recent post but it's still not quite where I want it. I ordered an Oyaide P-004 for the PP-1 so we'll see what that brings.
I'm sure any male plug with an earth GND. pin will work. I have a bunch of Marinco plugs just collecting dust so that's what I used. It's my observation that even though the child safety caps are damping the unused outlet Hot and Neutral prongs, the earth GND. prong in the outlets are not being damped at all. Thoughts?
Give it a shot and report back with your impressions.
Cheers,
