They are used to save labor.The contact is made through a spring-loaded knife-edge, and is not suitable for serious audio systems.
Anyone who does not have dedicated lines should look at the outlets on the circuit from which the audio system is supplied. If the circuit is daisy-chain wired using these devices, the wiring should be improved by adding pigtails to the outlets, and connecting the incoming and outgoing wires with wire nuts in each outlet junction box.
Hospital-grade outlets have back-wire holes, but these are for clamps similar to the Oyaide, and are not for speed-wire connections.
