Whether or not that "discovery" is ultimately a DISCOVERY depends ultimately that it be acknowledged by the body of science at large. This means it gets prodded, poked and otherwise tested and if it can't be falsified then it is possible to be added to the body of scientific knowledge or even revolutionize scientific knowledge.So far with the clock there is not even a reproducible observation let alone a working hypothesis so it is well beyond the realm of science at this point.
