from diyhifi.org. The cap is to eliminate any DC offset (and provide some filtering) prior to the pulse transformer on the input. The pulse transformer doesn't want to see any DC offset. It's a DIY Dac kit. SINCE I have a transport that has a transformer coupled output, which acts as a buffer and eliminates (or at least greatly reduces) DC offset, I could potentially take this cap out. So it is somewhat redundant. I got mixed feedback from 3 digital desigers, so I think I'll leave in. I could experiment but I'm like a bull in a china shop when it comes to desoldering.
