You gain nothing with a one to one transformer. If you have 10k going into the transformer, you have 10k coming out.Correct. And not only that, the output impedance would be the same as with the pot. Well, for an IDEAL transformer. For a realworld transformer, the output impedance would be somewhat higher due to winding resistance, etc.
