One solution

you'll probably get several different suggestions, but here's how I did it. Like you, I have a sub-optimal situation in that my rack has to be enclosed. We have a media armoire. I built an IKEA Lyte Rack--an affordable but very good DIY design offered by Ken Lyon of Greater Ranges--and placed the whole thing inside a larger media armoire. Obviously, it would be ideal if the rack coupled to your floor (mine doesn't though). The attached link contains a photo of the just the rack. The cost is $60-80 and all you need is a saw and drill. The design is solid; it is based on the principles of light, rigid, low mass, rapid energy dissipation--and should not be dismissed for its low cost. I experienced an appreciable improvement in resolution, transient response and imaging after installing this rack. As far as remote control, maybe an armoire with glass doors? Good luck!
