Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

With so much cheap furniture out there from Wal-mart, Target, and the like, I'm looking for an audio stand with some specific characteristics.
Basically, I need a single width rack/tower with at least 4 shelves that is (here's the kicker) enclosed to protect gear from any young prying hands, yet still allows remote control transmission. Heighth and depth are not issues, but I only have limited width. I've seen many open isolation racks, but am having trouble finding any with doors (other than the typical furniture store design).
I want something that's at least fairly decent at isolation, but certainly don't mind supplementing with other products, if necessary. Biggest issue is something that's well built and won't fall apart in a few short years, as so many cheaper products have in the past. Priority is to keep equipment safe first, and, secondarily, help with isolation.
Having cabinetry custom built is an option, but may not provide the audio benefits of a dedicated rack. Just not sure where to start searching, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
