Not really OK.What's wrong with metal pipe?? EMT ??
If you PVC ever catches fire, it stinks and makes a real mess.
The building code rule, generally, is exposed power wiring should be in metal pipe, period. (Rural rules can be very vague, bu big city rules are specific = metal pipe only. (If the wiring is entirely enclosed (not exposed), then it is your choice as long as the insulation (or plastic pipe) can withstand 600 volts (ala Romex).
