Roller isolation for a sprung-subchassis TT makes sense to me, anyway.I don't think it's a particularly complex issue - Thorens-type suspension is manifestly bad at dealing with side-to-side or rotional shaking, rollers theoretically 'transform' (subsonic) vibes into nearly-pure vertical mode.
It's intersting to note your observation that the structure of your home is apparently more 'live' in the horizontal mode than vertical (door slams vs. footfalls) - I reckon this is in fact how almost all buildings react to seismic vibration, particularly heavy traffic.
I'm not sure about some of the DIY options using things like brass /coke-cans/machined alumnium for the 'races' though, this isn't how any bearings I've heard of are made - anything softer than the balls themselves will quickly peen and stop working below certain amplitudes - i.e. one should go with (polished) stainless steel, such as the ever-popular soupspoons.
