I agree - in parts

If you are rooting out noise then it is fiendishly difficult to design a switcher less noisy than a good linear.

As to whether it "improves" the sound - that is up to you.

As an inveterate catalog reader (I grew up reading my Dad's Radiospares catalog, when it was only 6 pages are truly was "radio-spares" - tubes, coils, tuning caps etc) I haven't seen anything remotely like what you want except involving a lot of DIY.

Thinks ........ maybe there is a market there ......
