I can't tell from your post whether you've actually tried the 6P3S-E. I have a large quantity of these, as well as NOS Sylvania 5881 and a few non-Sylvania 6L6GC. They're all interchangeable electrically, in case you didn't know. In my tests, the 6P3S-E produces less distortion than the others when used in a typical push-pull pentode amplifier with ~20 dB feedback. I'm not trying to sell you on these (and mine are not for sale), just clarifying. Would be very interested to see a photo of your amp. Here's my last effort, built from iron pulled from a HK TA7000X:
