RE: JJ E88CC gold pin

I spoke with the guys at EuroTube about the gold/non-gold versions a few years back. At the time they were a significant importer of JJ stuff ... or at least claimed to be. Anyway, the story I got from them, should you choose to believe it, is that the gold pins are selected production and get subsequent gold pin treatment, and, well, a higher price. Did not elaborate about criteria for selection, but sounded good enough to justify the extra $3 or $4 per tube to me back then.

They sound incredibly similar to the Telefunken 6922's I'd been using to that point in my CAT. Also, JJ's frame-grid 12AX7 is an excellent tube.
