Hi,
Well....if you do a search here for something like "best 6SN7" you will turn up a million hits. Ditto for the EL34. I can pretty much guarantee you that, while rolling both tubes will make a difference in the sound, the 6SN7 will have more effect. You should listen to the new amp in your system for 100+ hours as it burns in and see what areas you think it might be lacking in. Then check the archives for tubes that might offset your weaknesses. For example, some 6SN7 types are noted for their bass response and warmer sound. If you the system is a bit bass shy, then try one of those. While you can spend some serious coin on a pair of Tungsol round plate 6SN7's there are certainly others you can get for well under $50 per pair that might be great. Ditto for EL34's. The good thing is you only need a pair so even old Mullard Xf1 or 2's won't be that bad. I have listened to Xf2's with the dual halo getters and also the SED winged "C"'s in my PP amp. Both are nice. I'd take the Mullards, but only by 10% or so and the SED's are quite reasonable. So, I'd live with it, decide what are it's weaknesses while you are having fun reading the archives about both tube types, and then re-post when you figure out what sort of sound change you are after....have fun....
