tonyptony,The Telefunken ECC801S is still a bit of a sore point wiht me. About two years ago, I bought quite a number of tubes on German Ebay and had them all sent to a friend in Germany. This friend, without mentioning it, then mailed them to me about the time I moved and I never saw them. Among these tubes- 2- NOS Telefunken ECC801S as well as 5- NOS Siemens E83CC, and a pair of NOS Siemens E88CC. I would say I lost in today's terms about $900 worth of nice stuff and prices are prohibitive today- I refuse to pay more than $40 for a small tube on prniciple. By the way, the most expensive single tube I've ever bought was an Amperex Bugle Boy 7316 at $40.
I do have a very low testing used ECC801S, and these I can tell are quite wonderful- a very refined sound.
The 6- Raytheon 12AT7WA's I have were tested as above new values and with reasonable values section to section, the worst one being about 10% apart and the best 2 were spot on the same. I'm looking forward to trying them. I never had very many Raytheons until I retubed a Scott 330D tuner mostly with them and discovered how good they are.
Cheers,
Bambi B
