Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ

Thanks for the help!

I tried some Cardas Crosslink interconnects and they have helped. I have ordered some Chinese 6SN7s in hope they help as well. I am receiving some Van den Hul The First Ultimate Mk.II to try to further tame the slightly tipped up sound. I am going to replace my output tubes soon so your suggestions are greatly valued. After I get the rest of the equipment figured out I will place an order. I think it is between the SED KT-88 and the SED 6550C after I evaluate the system with the new driver tubes and new rectifiers (Sovteks, hey, I figure if CJ uses them in their 22,000 dollar stuff I can use them too!) that I ordered as well as the new interconnects. Again, thanks for all the help!

Oh, I have bass traps, 6 inches thick rock wool, behind the speakers as well as a four inch thick trap behind the listening position. No ringing from claps in the room, it is pretty well damped at this point with fabrics and bass traps. I am pretty sure that the Sony is part (or all, or none depending on how you look at it...) of the problem which is why I am trying the VdH interconnects to help with the players brightness. I just cannot afford the VT-231s. If I could, I would get some, but I like the piece of mind from new tubes as well as the much better price. I really appreciate the help!
