The tube should still work. You must verify it is plugged in correctly. Turn the amp on without B+. You can do this with the standby switch (if it has one), or be removing the rectifier tube (if it has one). When the tube is plugged in correctly, the heater will be lit.The crack you mentioned apparently has not let air into the tube. If it had, the getter flashing at the top would be milky white. Not to say that it might do so later.
