Velleman/JJE34L bias question.

Guys,
Iv'e had the Velleman for about a year now,(100watt el34 kit amp 8 tubes 500 plate voltage)A friend built it.The JJ E34L tubes are very good.My friend suggested I keep the tubes biased at around 30 ma.However I have tried a little hotter bias, around 38ma and seem to prefer the sound.
Today I checked the bias and had 0 ma no bias current on one tube.So replaced it and set all the tubes at 33ma and all is well again!.
I have read some posts that suggest seting the bias at 45 ma to get the tubes to sound there best.
I find the sound a little cold at 33ma.Will I cook the tubes if I run them at 45ma?.

Thanks Rob.
