1) Remove the covers and look for the obovious stuff - cold solder joints, cracked component. In short, anything that looks unusual.2) Power it up with a new fuse with *no* tubes in it.
3) Install the 5U4 only and power up again.
4) Starting with the small signal tubes from the 1st stage, keep adding tubes and power up with each one added.
5) Do the 6550 last and power up for the final time.
6) If you've gotten this far with no blown fuses, then let it sit powered up while you watch it for any sort of weird tube action.
Finally, put it into operation still with the original tubes and use it for a week or 2, while monitoring for strange problems or intermittent issues.
Make sure you keep notes no the tubes you've rolled, especially those that were in the amp when it blew the fuse.
Remember, you don't know what's *not* wrong, yet.
