Those who have posted before me are absolutely correct about this assessment. I have only to add that I am in both camps, I have a SS for home theater and tubes for Hifi. Tubes are more maintenance than solid state, ss is better in bass by far, ss is better in the highs ext. however this said I find that tubes have a much greater musical experience. Also tube rolling is great fun. I can tell you once you find a tube outfit you probally won't go back to SS. SET (true class a)does the most wrong according to the ss camp but they are the most musical and addictive, with the right speakers of course.
