I thought the stock GE tubes in the 308 sounded good, but a little dry. Maybe we're hearing something similar there. I wanted a bit "fatter" presentation, so I tried the Brimar 13D5 pair. These were in fact a little too fat and warm for me. Then I picked up the Sylvania 5814's which seem to fit very well. The Sylvanias have contributed a powerful bass, which I love. They are also quite smooth but still vivid and bold through the midrange, just lacking the last bit of sparkle in the highs. I'd say the Brimars are the warmest sounding of the tubes I've tried. I'll probably try something else in a few months, just to see if I can get a bit more performance. Just curious, what interconnect are you using between the 308 and your Six Packs?
