Michael, I just got done working on one. The one I have has a 6sl7 instead of a 12ax7. It has a paraphase splitter. The cathode bias resistor is, in effect, the secondary of the output transformer. They also reference the heater center tap to the top of the output tubes bias resistor to elevate the heater supply some.I didn't care for either approach and wanted to gut the whole nine yards but it isn't mine and I managed to control myself. After enough work it doesn't sound "too" bad.
