Light dawns on marble head!I refitted a pair of Luxman MB340 for KT88, (when they stopped make their proprietary output tube).
I bought a set of Sovtec tubes about four years ago then I started having some really bad crunching sounds on power-up. So I stopped using my amp for a while, then I decided to swap out all the tubes starting with the pre-drivers, to no avail.
When I got to the outputs, I opted for the "winged C" because of the many recomendations I read about them
Mysteriously the evil crunching sounds went away, now I know precisely why.
