You would plug them in the jacks marked noise. Plate and grid jacks are for exactly that, plate and grid caps on some tubes. I don't think you'll find 5KV in this tester, but it could still give you good zap, if you make a mistake. It is a nice tester and well worth it to get the manual. I don't think you'll find it the best noise test, more for finding intermitant shorts.
