big thanks for your interesting and informative info ..re my tubes , it was interesting that last night my golden eared ( really ) A/phile pal came to listen ...we auditioned 3 sets of ECC82's ...BB's from the UK 60's , BB's from holland 14 mm..60's? , and the German BB's ...blind test ...done in the above order , after listening to the UK tubes , he thought the Holland BB's we more forward and a little more agressive in the mids, then the German BB's came on and he said this is the best , organic and balanced ....we tried all the others again w/ different types of music & the same results ..
when another friend looked at the tubes w/ the 'background' behind all lettering & codes he remarked that the tubes we liked ...are probably counterfeit !
this slightly hazy film enabling the 'new' ink to stick to the tube ...? so what we really have is truly a mystery ...but the foil D 45 degree kind of narrows it down a bit ...or does it ? perhaps other factories pumped out the same type of LP D gettered ECC82's ?
I guess if we had not agreed these tubes did sound pretty good I would have been extremely upset ( paid $150 for the 3 ) as it is now I am only upset after not receiving what I thought I was buying .
anyone have this type of experience ?
Bernard
