I was curious about some Ultralinear designs where a SV6550C tube, despite the 400 Volt max voltage rating of G2 is used.How critical in fact is the use of 6550C type tube, in for instance a Dynaco MK3, where the voltage on G2 is far more than 400 Volts DC?
Might this be a case where one can exceed the rating on a specification sheet and not cause any noticeable harm to the 6550 tubes? Or is this a disaster waiting to happen?
Should I stick to KT-88 and KT-90 instead for Ultralinear designs and other configurations with more than 400 Volts on G2?
