But for you I'd say convert the amp to use 6BG4 tubes. About all you need to do is use a 5U4 recifier tube, remove the fixed bias connection, and ground the grid leak resistors. The tubes will operate with cathode bias. You will only be able to run new russian tubes and not NOS! If you are using the stock driver board that will have to be changed. Joe at dynaco doctor sells a differential driver board that is more than adequate. You should get around 12 watts I'd guess.So there you go...a $200-300 or well under job that will beat 90% of the commercial amps out there.
