Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I am currently choosing between a 45-watt CJ CAV-50 or a 80-watt VTL IT-85 tube integrateds both selling used for the same price. Whats a better amplifier for the MG12's? I listen only at moderate levels in a 13 x 14ft room so power is of no concern. I prefer a a softer mellower harmonically rich top-end and midrange while also putting out decent "fat, rich" bass to augment the lack of bass of the maggies. In my limited research from the net, i get the feeling that i would probably prefer the CJ sound, but will the VTL be much much better in the bass area?Cannot audition both amps, so have to rely on comments & suggestion in this forum. Thanks in advance.
