William, hi. Boy, that sounds terrific. Glad it is working out. I don't know if I'd plug that Bendix in, but it may be worth a try. I have looked at the opera audio offerings. Pretty ambitious all the way around. I have been tempted to get one of those Opera based 300B push-pull amps just to tweak around with and have fun. I've been trying to focus energies and funds towards a parallel 300B SET project that is pretty much done. I have been trying to do some hyper critical listening with them for further possible refinements. They sound good enough that I just get into the music and forget all about trying to be critical. I used a pair of Audio Note outputs from some years ago: 2.1K. They are not potted or enclosed which makes the amps look unfinished sort of. If I keep them I want to make square can enclosures to dress them up. Ideally the trans should be around 1.8K. Hashimoto will wind them for me for a good price, but I like Jack's work so much I probably will go Electra-Print. Actually the amps sound very very good now. I have watched Brian's Cherry's success with his amps at DIY Audio in HK. Am wondering if the amp you have is based on the same one he uses. I have been wanting to try an interstage as phase splitter in a PP amp. The metal work is always such a *#@*%. The temptation is to take something and rebuild it. Very interesting your comments on the sound of the Opera outputs. Based on the enclosures they would seem to be torroids. I am also trying to get finished a major loudspeaker project. I will digest what you wrote and if any major flashes happen will let you know.
