Value is impossible to say; HOW used are they? What vintage? Value of each tube in a pair is always less than price of each tube of a quad for the very reason you stated--ya need 4 to use them!, and KT88s seem to be much more readily available these days (relative to 5 years ago!), even the ones REALLY worth owning to an absolute purist, the "top getter only" version. The ones with top and two sidegetters are later and IMHO vastly inferior sonically. If you want hard numbers on value, go to ebay, and do a "completed listings" search for KT88s. They are always worth exactly what people are paying for them. I think Jim McShane has some tested (and certified by a truly honest vendor) used KT88s right now for only a little over $120 each, I believe. I'm not saying these tubes are cheap or a walk in the park to acquire... but really, anyone with enough money could acquire as many as they wanted on ebay and from good vendors.
