Thinking more about your response.... Thanks. The reason I suspect the unit is because some uninsulated copper leads from far end of both "whatevers" is snipped. It has a chassis bracket, a lead connector modularish plug, and two elongate ceramic (?) tubes. From the sides of those tubes (Suzuki) strap type leads emerge at end close to bracket (grounded); and far ends (snipped). Lead plug comes from 30v taps at potted transformer (2wires); and goes to potentiometers labeled hum for both sides (1 wire for both). It is a regulator (maybe even rectifier combo, although tube rectifier is present elsewhere ?); but paint is gone and part number indistinguishable (probably gets hot). I just want to identify and replace with cap job before going further.
