Yes the dynaco would probably be your best bet if you wanted something in that price range that you could upgrade and keep for the long run. But I say that because a dynaco is easy to find in the USA. But maybe you have other brands, like klangfilm or grundig that might be good and cheaper/easier to find? My advice, try and find something/anything locally for as little as possible. Straight power amps are best as the vintage preamp circuits with all their tone controls and pots to go noisey are usually not very good sounding. The Bottlehead foreplay is still a good deal in a preamp and the new version is far better than the old one IMHO. Matter of fact, buying a tube preamp first is the smart way to go and building a kit is even smarter....now why didn't I think to say that first:)
