IPC / Western Electric / Simplex Theater Tube Amps, Preamps, Cabinets

24.58.81.6

I recently did some work at an old movie theater, and as compensation I received a really nice collection of vintage audio equipment.

This included several IPC tube amplifiers (60 Watt IPC AM-1026 and 25 watt IPC AM-1027, the matching pre-amps modules, speaker network switching unit (LU 1103), and more.

I also have the original art-deco style mounting/wiring cabinets for the amps (also solidly engineered), and seperate cabinets for the modular preamp systems.

The engineering and craftsmanship on all of these units are (to me) just astounding.

Several companies seem to have been involved in the manufacture and branding of this equipment including: IPC (International Projector Corp.); Simplex; and Western Electric.

Along with all this, I received a box full of NOS tubes for this equipment including types 6SN7, VR150, 807, 930/CE30C, 5Y3, 12AT7, 6SN7, 6J7, 5879, 5751, and GL5814A.

I also have the manuals.

Anyway, with that lengthy introduction, I need to find someone who knows a bit more about this stuff than I do.

I'm inclined to sell some or all of these, but I'd really like to know more about this stuff before I do so.

I'd gratefully accept any insights or information that members of this forum would be willing to share.

Thanks.

-Matt.

P.S. Here are a couple of links to pictures of amps (not mine, but the same models)
