I'm running one SE-40 in mono per each Sequel II top panel. I use a YBA 3a class A stereo solid state amp on the woofers. Also, I don't play the Sequels very loud. Then, in order to keep the high end from sounding too laid back and closed in, I've had to keep Sovteks in V1 for the line tubes. Using good NOS tubes as drivers in V2 has helped keep the mids sounding decent and the highs from being too thin.
Also, the Sonic Craft mods really helped open up the sound.
Within these parameters, I've been able to live with the MLs recessed highs. That's why I need an almost too bright NOS in V1: too keep them from sounding like I've turned the treble down when I swap out the Sovteks. It's certainly an uphill battle using SE-40s to drive them. But that's where the fun is, eh?
